Having Trouble Paying Your Water Bill?

We understand that challenges may come up that impact our customers’ ability to pay their water bills. Besides working directly with the district to establish a payment plan, there are other community resources available that may be able to help. A list of some of them is provided below.

211 San Diego is a 24-hour phone referral service for people needing assistance with paying utility bills, food, health services, domestic violence assistance, shelter and many other needs. When you call, you get an actual human on the phone who will do a database search to help you find solutions. Often, water bill funding is quickly depleted in San Diego County, but 211 researchers can help find potential funding for other utilities to offset costs. Call 211 or visit https://www.211sandiego.org for more information.

Modest Needs Foundation is a grant program. It is for unusual or emergency situations, and if approved, Modest Needs would pay the bill in its entirety. You would not be expected to repay the grant. Visit https://www.modestneeds.org for more information.

Interfaith Community Services: is a service that can help with bills, expenses and some other costs or resources. They serve those in need in the North County areas. Call 760-489-6380 or visit https://www.interfaithservices.org for more information.

North County Lifeline: is a service that can help individuals and families with rental and utility assistance. Call 760-726-4900 or visit  https://lifelinecs.org for more information.

San Diego Catholic Charities: serves the community in a variety of different ways. In addition to helping with utility payments, they can aid in finding additional resources and support such as food, health services, domestic violence assistance, shelter and many other needs.  Call 619-323-2841 or visit  https://ccdsd.org for more information.

Brother Benno’s: serves the community in a variety of different ways. In addition to helping with utility payments, they can aid in finding additional resources and support such as food, health services, domestic violence assistance, shelter and many other needs.  Call 760-439-1244 or visit  https://brotherbenno.org for more information.

Can’t you just forgive or discount my bill? Unfortunately, we cannot; state law prohibits it. We are prohibited from inter-ratepayer subsidies where individual ratepayers are required to pay more than their actual cost of water so that other ratepayers may pay less. While we can offer extensions for payment, all outstanding charges will ultimately need to be collected by the district. As indicated above, please contact our Customer Service Department at 760-597-3120 about payment plan options.
